Meet Nicola Spickett,

Nicola graduated as a physiotherapist in 2002 from the University of Wales College of Medicine.

Nicola started her career in the NHS in 2002, where she worked in a range of departments before becoming a senior MSK physiotherapist in a busy outpatient department. Part of her role involved working alongside orthopaedic consultants to help rehabilitate patients following complex surgery.

Nicola has worked for iPS since 2009. She enjoys working with patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal / orthopaedic conditions. She is experienced in treating patients who have suffered life-changing injuries and loves the challenge of working with these clients to regain strength, function and confidence. Nicola is also very experienced in treating patients with sports injuries. She has spent many years treating weekend warriors and elite athletes across a range of sports. Nicola has an in-depth knowledge of netball injuries and particularly enjoys designing and guiding rehab programmes to get players back on court.

Nicola has worked as a First Contact Practitioner in GP surgeries. This involved her triaging patients, organising onward referrals, requesting further investigations and liaising with GPs regarding medications. The experience gained has enabled her to build strong working relationships with the local GPs.

Nicola has a wide range of treatment skills at her disposal. She is an APPI-Trained Pilates Instructor. She has a real passion for Pilates and how this can be incorporated into rehabilitation programmes to help reduce pain and improve function. She is a qualified acupuncturist and has excellent knowledge of strength and conditioning, which she utilises daily to rehabilitate patients who have suffered life-changing injuries.

Nicola is a bubbly enthusiastic physiotherapist who has a real empathy with her patients and knows how to achieve the best for her patients and always gives her all to help them on their rehabilitation journey. She is open and honest and always approachable to her patients. She is relaxed and caring always wants what is best for them and will go the extra mile to achieve this.

Nicola is always on the go. She loves nothing better than spending time with her family. When she isn’t watching her children play sport, she is either coaching local netball teams or watching her beloved Cardiff City FC. In recent years she has overcome her fear of water and now enjoys regular sea swimming.
